Obviously this person has never been to a Michelin 2 or 3 star restaurant. We lived in Paris 14 years and have been to 7 Michelin 3 star restaurants there. Our dining experience at L'Espalier was laughable. The ambiance was nice, but the service was clumsy and the food was mediocre at best. It was obvious the chef never trained in France. The French have a saying that fits perfectly. They try to fart higher than their.* Alas, without success! (edited)- Is follow up to post by sharon.eikenberr ...
Dinner at L'Espalier is more than just dinner - it's an experience. The service is excellent, the ambiance is very pleasant, and the food is superb. It's on par with a Michelin 2- or 3-star restaurant in France. I've dined at L'Espalier twice in the past 6 months. The first time was on a Monday night, and the second time was on a Saturday night. Clearly, on Monday night, they had removed a few of the tables from the dining room, which made the room feel spacious, and gave us plenty of room between tables. On Saturday night, there were a couple of tables for two that I thought were too close together. The service on Monday night, probably because of the fewer tables, was a little sharper. The 7-course tasting menu is amazing flexible -- they allow you to customize the two first courses and the two entree courses, selecting any of the dishes off of the three course menu. Unfortunately, the 7 courses really are too much food. I'll stick with the 3-course menu in the future.
